Welcome to OSKU, the Finnish School of Ottawa. This site will give you information about the school, its purpose, how to get involved , events, the Finnish community in general and more.

OSKU/Children’s Program JK-Grade 8

Finnish classes are offered through the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the International Languages Program, as mandated under the Ministry of Education. Communities work in partnership with the school board in order to provide high-quality instruction in non-official languages.
The children enjoy a program that develops their verbal and written language skills in a fun, interactive environment. The program incorporates music, videos, games, field trips and occasional special guests from the Finnish community.

The Finnish classes for children are multilevel classes and meant for all 4 to 14 year-old children regardless the language level or background. At the moment the children's classes have been divided into two age groups: 4-7 year-olds and 8-14 year-olds.

Registration:      
10. Sept 2011.  Late registrations are always welcome and new students are welcome anytime during the school year.

Saturday mornings 9.30 -12.00 from Sep 17, 2011 to June 16, 2012

Cost:                  
$10.00 per child for OCDSB plus voluntary OSKU membership is $25 per year per family or $40 for two years per family.

OSKU/Adult Program

Finnish classes are offered for adults, aged 18 years and older, through the Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) Continuing Education Program.  Finnish classes run in three semesters: Fall, Winter and Spring and the length of each semester varies. Each semester requires a new registration.
OSKU adult classes are multilevel and everyone can join regardless of the person’s language level.

Registration:     
Ongoing Early registrations is very important since the classes will only run if there is enough students.

Classes:            
Monday evenings 7PM to 9PM. Fall semester starts Sept 20th; there are no classes on Holiday Mondays.
